The current pope is part of the re=packaging of Christianity, and it is bad news because the Catholic Church had been a bastion of tradition for a couple of thousand years. Even when activists wrested control fifty years ago, the popes themselves (for the most part) clung to tradition: No abortion, divorce, homosexuality, female clergy - all clearly laid out in Scripture.

They KNOW Christian values are important and a candidate who professes Christianity stands a far better chance with mainstream America, much as they hate it and us.

This one is easy. Chastising these homosexuals IS love. Leaving them or encouraging them to rot in their sin IS hate. It’s why it was always nonsensical to claim that parents who indulge homosexuality in their children, do it out of love. That behavior is at best abandonment.
Ultimately, the “Religious” Left fails because it replaces the power of God with the all-powerful state. The two cannot coexist.

That is what followers of the word of God call apostasy. Homosexuality was condemned under the law of the Patriarchs, the law of Moses, and currently under the law of Christ. I don’t hate homosexuals, but I will not sit idly by and pretend the are living in accordance with scripture.

Powers applies Buttigieg’s formula to the evangelical conviction regarding abortion. According to Powers, Jesus never mentioned abortion at all, thereby making it a dubious issue for Christians to espouse. This line of reasoning applies to other issues like sexual orientation, gender identity, and the entire spectrum of LGBTQ rights.
