“That car had the biggest steering wheel of any car I have ever driven.”
Trust me, you need that big wheel. The hot rodder I bought my 57 Bel Air from had a tiny after market wheel that made it impossible to drive.

I used to tune small block Chevy’s with a vacuum gauge. At idle advance until max vacuum is reached and back off 2 inches. Works even on worn engine. 34 degrees? Hummmm.

How sad it is to see that color chart, when you look at what people are driving now. Black, white, silver, and variations on those three. That's 95% of the cars on the road today.
How absolutely boring.
But look what VW's doing with their Golf R model, if you're willing to pay more and wait...

YUp. Non power-steering cars need the leverage of a huge wheel. Never turn the wheel unless you rolling( unless youre up against the curb)

Like I said, I tune by ear.

To: Vaquero

Mine was a cream yellow body with a white soft top. It was an eye candy magnet, bar none!

My high school pal's dad had one just like this, but it was silver.
One of the best looking cars made in the 50s.

I would love to know the stories behind the designs of these classic cars. Who the various designers were and how it all came about. Would make a great TV documentary series.
