With Penn professor Joe Biden taking a leave of absence to compete for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020, Penn Biden Center officials said the center isn't going anywhere. Penn Biden Center and University officials said the center, which opened in February 2018, will continue to operate and maintain the same "mission" while the former vice president is on the campaign trail.

This is one of those articles that says nothing but shows everything wrong in higher education.
Somehow Biden became a Penn professor even though no one actually knows what he does and the Biden Center is managed by a gang of leftists.
FYI:Penn charges over 50k a year tuition and the President Amy Guttman makes close to 5 million a year and neighbors one of the world's worst ghettos. Apparently not much of that Ivy League money trickles down to the hood.

I’ve noticed traveling throughout the country, many yrs ago, most University is surrounded by very poor neighborhoods. Democrat-run cities.

That would be North Philadelphia, where Temple is, not West Philadelphia where Penn is.
West Philly is still a "ghetto" but it's not one of the "worst in the world," and North Philadelphia isn't either.
I don't think anybody in West Philadelphia is living in cardboard boxes or plywood shacks, though I could be wrong about that.

Many of them were old, quaint, desirable hoods.
Then they became run down, crime ridden, drug infested and here came the rest of the ghettoans for the coup de grace
The universities had no place to run, if they had, they would have. Now look at where they establish “satellite” campuses and where the professors and admins live

It may take a while, but many of these universities will become “virtual” and their “campuses” will be quaint historic ruins that will only be visited by curious tourists with armed guards.

Many of them were old, quaint, desirable hoods. My parents were married in West Philly, and they and mother's parents lived there until the mid 50s, when my parents moved to NJ and her parents moved to Havertown; her brother kept the last row house they had until the mid 60s when he left for Havertown as well. We lived near Havertown in the 70s ourselves until moving to FL, but whenever driving in or out of center city one could see the middle class blocks astride the ghetto blocks; by the 90s everything was ghetto. There is no way to revive such places; it would take either razing or gentrification, and the city government would be adamantly opposed to either.

All your points are valid. There is no comparison between third world poverty and US poverty. HOWEVER, statistically Philadelphia is the nation's "poorest big city" and West/South West has 10's of thousands of poor people and some very nasty streets.
I embellish a bit because I don't know if you can find a better example of left wing hypocrisy than comparing a guarded mini city of elites and snow flakes with their dysfunctional neighbors.

I must agree with x’s assessment of the relative ghettiness of West Philly (Penn) vs. North Philly (Temple).

And in 2023, classified docs are found in Biden’s old office there.
