Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday made his first comments on a U.S. court sentencing admitted Russian foreign agent Maria Butina to 18 months in prison, calling her treatment a travesty of justice.Butina was sentenced on Friday after the Siberia native, her voice breaking with emotion, begged a judge for mercy and expressed remorse for conspiring with a Russian official to infiltrate a gun rights group and influence U.S. conservative activists and Republicans. Speaking in Beijing, Putin said the sentence looked like an attempt by U.S. law enforcement and judicial officials to save face.

Russia stay the f* home. We dont need your help.
It is an outrage.
Unfortunately, I trust the US MSM as much as I trust the Russian media, which is to say - not at all. Hyperventilating CNN, MSNBC, etc... trotted her out as a top level spy for the sake of their phony "collusion narrative," so it also wouldn't be beyond our corrupt media and their government handlers to try and preserve some semblance of that narrative even if totally fake.
Typical Russian, comes to America and thinks she can say anything she pleases.
Naturally I would have to keep her chained up, of course... (Snicker...Snicker...)
Did we slip some polonium in her food?
Putin is exactly right here. This is a political show trial by Lib court and prosecutors out to further try to show a link between the Trump campaign and colluding with Russia. It’s all a bunch of bsloney abunch of
“a bunch of baloney” above. Typing error caused by poltergeists.
I agree with you, it was a show trial, but Putin can shove it up his Mueller too.
It is an outrage & will make it more risky for Americans abroad.
It is an outrage.
I want to brush her hair every night and hold her...
These are the same agencies that came after Trump, so sadly, I dont particularly believe anything they say. Flynn pled guilty too, and I dont believe that either.
Pardon her Mr. President.
18 months, huh?
Gary Powers was imprisoned for 1 year, 9 months, and 10 days. That adds up to 21 months and 10 days. She got the better of the deal.

Archduke Ferdinand moment perhaps? We are due for another world war, anyway.
The US government taught a great lesson to the freedom-loving young Russians on where they should stop looking so fawningly for guidance on all things in life. At least for the rest of them who didn’t get a memo already and still believes America is a sort of Vatican for freedom and liberty.
I hope there will be less of them believing the leftist propaganda on how bad and unfree their country is because even a dimwit realizes that it is impossible to imagine such travesty of justice in Russia despite it being constantly bashed for alleged abuses.
If possible every American in Russia involved in social activism and having any political ties back home which is probably no less that one in ten Americans would face prison but none is actually in prison.
As for Butina pity her but it is a lesson for her as well. She did better service to humanity by pushing for gun rights in Russia.

In North Korea or Iran? It is their sort of justice. Why would other countries lower their standards to be more like North Korea for the fact US decided to act North Korean?
One thing for sure this case would add to making people abroad laugh upon hearing ‘ellnlightening’ speeches on freedom and democracy from Joe Biden types.

How are these cases any related? Powers was caught in the middle of Russia in a CIA plane with weapons, poisons and spy gear.
One thing making Power’s case relevant these days is the whole incident occurred about time Eisenhower and Khruschev were working to get along and end the Cold War.
Someone obviously didn’t want such a development and Powers was their instrument.
It seems like Deep State is an oldie thing.
*** If they would rather sentence her to 18-months “home” detention, I would be glad to take her in and convince my wife that Siberians make good cooks and house cleaners...
Naturally I would have to keep her chained up, of course... (Snicker...Snicker...) ***
Oh, do make moronic jokes about the travesty Maria Butina experienced in the good old USA. Each time after she was visited by her attorney in jail she underwent a full body cavity search. That is torture, and a violation of her human rights.
It worked. She pled guilty after having her rectum, and vagina assaulted frequently to extract a confession.
Isn’t that hilarious? Make more moronic jokes that make FR look like it’s frequented by senile perverts.
Her crime was youth, naivete, and idealizing the USA.
