I talked to a wildlife biologist when I attended the Mississippi hunter safety instructors academy. He said he kills every feral cat he sees.
He is correct but I just can’t bring myself to kill the ones who come to my porch in a very rural area.
Just feed and give water to the poor creatures.
After they kill the cats, what are they going to do about the exploding rat population?
How many family pets has he killed? It’s not like he asks the cats if they are feral or not.
I thank the feral cat who had two litters in the garage for our precious furbabies.
Please don’t tell me you feed them.
You are a good person! Our now tame feral came out of the woods & would sit far away & look at us. Then we put out bowls of food. She inched closer, so did the food. Eventually we set up a doghouse on a workable in our carport. Loaded it w/ blankets & quilts. Next to it a tall table where she ate her food & had water. It took awhile, but she loved to be petted. We trapped her & had her spayed. Finally two Thanksgivings ago when it was bitterly cold my husband put on thick gloves & caught her & brought her in. She sleeps on the bed with us now.
She’s darling & loving.
IF they are coming to your porch, they might have learned they can get fed there.
