Buttigieg thinks illegal aliens ‘subsidize’ citizens and legal residents. The numbers say otherwise

At a CNN Town Hall earlier this week, 2020 Democratic presidential candidate and South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg claimed that illegal immigrants subsidize citizens and legal residents because they pay taxes without reaping federal benefits.

His claim is way off.

A clip is available from CNSNews here.

“I would be delighted to have more people,” Buttigieg said. “We only have 100,000 because so many people left after the auto factories collapsed in the ’60s. We’ve got plenty of room for more residents and taxpayers who want to help fund the snowplowing and firefighters that I’ve got to have for 130,000 people’s worth of city, with only 100,000 people to pay for it.”

“And let us not forget that in many respects, from property taxes to sales taxes, undocumented immigrants are taxpayers, and the truth is, in many respects, because they are not eligible for a lot of benefits,” the Democratic mayor added, “they are subsidizing the rest of us, which is just one more reason we’ve got to get this sorted out.”

This talking point has been floating around the immigration debate for a while. But are illegal immigrants indeed paying payroll, property, and sales taxes while using no government services and receiving no government benefits?

I loved the way President Trump said he is “pulling” for Peter but he won’t win the nomination. So much unsaid that we all get there.

Sounds like he is begging Trump to bus 30,000 illegals to South Bend.

“Have SocSec Investigators[they have their own, armed investigators] show up to each place on a Tuesday and ask to interview that person. And have him/her produce their SS card.”

One potential flaw in your plan... I’m not sure how many people actually carry around their SS card with them.

I only take mine out if I need to apply for a job or get a new ID or something like that.

Confirms theory mayor Pete is living on another planet or in a parallel dimension.

The President asks SocSec Admin to get a list of SSNs that are being used at different companies, simultaneously. Easy, I think. SSN is being used by one person working at Taco Bell, another person working construction, another person working at Applebee’s, another person working for a landscaper, another person working at a meat processing plant. Have SocSec Investigators[they have their own, armed investigators] show up to each place on a Tuesday and ask to interview that person. And have him/her produce their SS card. EZ-PZ. Business doesn’t even have to get in trouble, the first time, but they are encouraged to take part in the EVerify program.

Not only that, but a lot of the SSN thiefs like to go for young kids - they won't be working for years, so there's less chance of a red flag when someone files their taxes and the IRS thinks they already did. I'm sure it would be VERY easy for SS admin to give them an additional list of every SSN that's showing income, when the SSN is under working age. Every single one under 14 is almost definitely an illegal, and every one 14-16 shouldn't be very high. Most teenagers don't generally make more than several thousand in any given year, at least until they graduate HS.

“What a DUMBASS”

Well, he’s taken so many in there that there’s not much chance that it isn’t pretty dumb by now.

True, but everyone has some form of identification. Should be easy enough to check the employer's SSN verification paperwork. And many illegals aren't going to have proper identification anyway, so you can still catch them through that. Enough to get an investigation started at least!

The biggest flaw I see is many people work multiple jobs, so SS will have quite a few false flags because of that. But, that is a quick thing to verify, and there'll be plenty of leads to illegals mixed in! Especially if you start checking the ones that are working multiple jobs in locations far away from each other.

True, but let the feds show up at that place of work and confront the guy. Won’t take long for the truth to come out, if he/she isn’t running out the backdoor. If that happens, point made and problem solved.

And I completely overlooked the tax return thing. I want to say that there were 2 addresses in the Atlanta area that the IRS sent thousands of tax refunds to.

Even Snopes couldn’t refute it.

Yup, there's another major red flag. At most, the same residential address should have maybe ten, assuming mom and dad file separately, and there's a bunch of kids/relatives or something. Really, anything over three should merit some kind of look into it!
