I liked Albert and B.B. and Freddie. The three kings of the six string. I have the CD of Albert playing with, in a mentoring kind of way, with a young Stevie Ray.
I have an album Albert King did with Stevie Ray Vaughn called In Session, also on DVD since it was originally on a Canadian TV show. Good stuff.
One of the three Great Blues Kings.
I saw Albert King and BB King on back-to-back nights at the Chicago Blues Fest in June 1988.
Played backward.
Saw a kid playing at a pawn shop the other day.
Hes playing a right hand guitar upside down left handed.
I asked if he was am Albert King fan, and he just looked at me and said, Who?
The kid was playing blues riffs, how could he not know?
Kids.
One of the best performances I’ve ever seen, at the Warner Theater in DC in late 80s. Was spectacular.
At one point he stopped mid-song, signaled the band to stop, and complained that his guitar volume was too low and demanded several times that that auditorium raise his volume. Was fantastic, and the crowd loved it.
Putting him on now, thanks for this post... listening now to Flat Tire, my favorite!
