Following an incident involving a pair of lightly armed U.S. soldiers and a squad of more heavily-armed Mexican troops in Texas earlier this month, POTUS Donald Trump announced Wednesday that in the future, American soldiers will also carry additional arms.
In addition, the president opined that perhaps the Mexican troops were not really interested in securing their countrys border as they were assisting a drug cartel.
Mexicos Soldiers recently pulled guns on our National Guard Soldiers, probably as a diversionary tactic for drug smugglers on the Border. Better not happen again! We are now sending ARMED SOLDIERS to the Border. Mexico is not doing nearly enough in apprehending & returning! the commander-in-chief tweeted.

I heard there were asking for “General Holder” and something about more of those fine guns.
Especially the Bush family.
Depending on the ROE, they could be armed to the teeth and it won’t matter.
What are the rules of engagement?
Will the troops have ammunition?
Color me skeptical.
If we used illegal immigration as a reason to have the military seal the border tight (and our military CAN do that if they are fully unleashed), such that the cartels could not get their drugs across, we would soon start seeing Mexican news reports of mass graves full of migrants.
‘WTF? Why werent they already armed?’
I would BET MY HOUSE that Trump didn’t ask, and therefore didn’t know that some asshole up the chain was a Jeb supporter.
I’ve always said that if I was in a position where people with guns were guarding me, I’d ask them if their guns were loaded and whether they were ready to fire - and, no, I would NOT be surprised if they came back and said that they didn’t even carry any ammo.
The thing is, it only takes one asshole up the chain of command to do something stupid like that...and that is why I would ALWAYS ask.
I probably did not have a bullet in my pocket like Barney Fife when I was in the Army. And if I didn’t, it certainly was not a tracer round.
I agree. Nothing useful will happen unless the troops are armed, AND authorized to fire, AND their hierarchy is willing to accept that Mexicans will be killed.
I think it was five or six Mexico military versus two of ours. Actual
details are hard to find.

Foolish media: Trump isn’t escalating anything, the Mexicans did. We are only responding in kind.
Sounds like a job for a bunch of A-10 Warthogs!
Hi.
“WTF? Why werent they already armed?”
As I have read part of the AAR, the two Soldiers were armed with sidearms, and the six Mexican soldiers were armed with automatic weapons.
Looks like there will be a change in force structure and ROE.

Good, now a few Obama promoted Generals need their quisling asses fired, and we’ll be satisfied.
They had to surrender because they weren’t sufficiently armed. They would have lost.
It’s an escalation to have armed military in our own country.
On April 13, at around 2 p.m. Central Time, a group of five or six suspected
Mexican soldiers approached an unmarked vehicle of two U.S. soldiers stationed
at the border in El Paso County, Texas, and ordered them out of the vehicle.
According to Newsweek, which obtained the serious incident report, the
soldiers were in fact active duty members of B Battery, 1st Battalion, 37th
Field Artillery Regiment, not from a National Guard unit. The Mexican
soldiers disarmed one of the U.S. soldiers and placed his sideaerm in the U.S. vehicle.
While the soldiers were parked south of the border fence near Clint, Texas,
they were north of the Rio Grande riverbed, which placed them appropriately
in U.S. territory, according to Maj. Mark Lazane, a spokesman for NORTHCOM.
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Department of Defense (DOD),
after inquiring of the Mexican government, were informed that the Mexican
soldiers thought that the Americans were south of the border. Throughout
the incident, the U.S. soldiers followed all established procedures
and protocols, according to NORTHCOM.

Trump has fired exactly ZERO Generals since the incident.
He really can’t fire generals if they’re simply obeying prior orders regarding firearms. Trump’s only mistake was thinking that US soldiers were still permitted to actually bring the necessary weapons to defend themselves.
He won’t make that mistake again.
