On the flip side: My oldest boy is a RR engineer in Utah. Occasionally, they run out of hours and have to take a cab back to the office.
He said last year most of the cabbies were Muslins but the last few trips he had a Somali driver. They got to talking and the guy said he was SO grateful to America for getting him out of his homeland.
Despite all that, he said that at one point, he thought about taking his kid back home to show him where his dad came from.
The kid rebelled, saying “No way dad. That place is a Sh!thole!” Maybe there’s hope left. At the least, I hope the kid wasn’t unusual - he seems to have assimilated.
