I believe the guy who built the Coral Castle in Fla use a lot of the same ideas in 1923. He did this without the aid of computers for calculations.

Wally Wallington, a retired builder in Michigan, has shown how he can move and raise 40,000 pound blocks (or entire buildings) using just wood, weights, and rope. Videos available on Youtube.
