It seems like if you score off the charts as type “pompous ass” you get hired automatically. It also helps if you are extremely verbose without actually saying anything.
At a job fair the agent said employees go through polygraphs which I doubt is a revelation. People get tripped up by things like lying about pirating software.
I have worked with many people in FBI. CIA, NSA. Not up to top level, but up to director level. Some really useless liberals, but they did not seem to go anywhere due to not getting anything done, but just cost me wasted time. The rest I thought worked really hard, were really sharp and seemed to have conservative values.
I think some liberals have made it to the top ranks in the past, but it was 0bama who corrupted the leadership of these agencies.
The main thing is whether or not you understand how insurance works and can explain it to your FBI girlfriend over text. If you don’t get caught, then probably you’ll advance. Sometimes if you can post seemingly deep questions with boring pictures on your instagram page like a morally righteous quasi Q, then you can get fired and think your initials are a hint about just how important you are for the survival of moral goodness.
My first observation would be not enough. Then the problem becomes who is evaluating the evaluators. When you start out with crap, you get crap ie Clapper and Brennan and Comey. IMO
Whatever psych tests they have work. Psychos Comey and Brennan passed.
I have worked with about 30 in three letter agencies, One an idiot, one a leftwing nutjob that got nothing done. The other 28 seemed to only be focused on their job and seemed non-political. Many were brilliant and could make much more salary in private industry. Of course many did after they retired, but investments over a long time pay off more than short term so I always found fault with their strategy.
My wife and I have dinner a few times a year with a retired director of a three letter agency that I have known for about 20 years. He and his wife are conservative. We have visited them at their home when we are in Maryland and near my home and in Los Angeles.
Most that I know are not the bad guys, they are more disgusted than we are.

Reminds me of a story. Here goes:
The CIA was interviewing recruits for a a highly classified, highly sensitive and highly dangerous assignment.
It was down to three finalists. All that was left was the loyalty tests. When it came time for each recruit to take the test, the supervisor told the recruit that his wife was tied up in the next room, handed him a pistol, and told him to dispatch her.
The first recruit told the supervisor he must be crazy, handed back the pistol, and left.
The second recruit went into the adjoining room, saw his wife tied to a chair, and emerged in tears. “’I’m sorry,” he told the supervisor. “I just can’t do it.”
The third recruit dutifully took the pistol, marched in the next room, and closed the door. The supervisor heard three gun shots, followed by a banging sound and a woman’s screams.
When the third recruit emerged from the room the supervisor asked him what happened. “Well,” the recruit explained, “when I realized some idiot put blanks in the pistol I had to beat her to death with a chair.”
They make them swear loyalty to the Leftist Ideology apparently.
