Here’s my prediction.

The Night King & Snow Zombies win. Bran is either involved or becomes the new Night King. A remnant of humans retreat to islands - Iron Islands maybe or more southern islands. The Night King & Snow Zombies have their civilization. (Remember Not our universe! - a GRR Martin universe!). Their civilization runs it’s course. They dread or have uncomfortable misgivings regarding the coming of Spring\Summer. (Summer is coming! Arrgh!) It comes, the cycle begins again.

Thus Martin continues his theme of the rise & fall of civilizations. His loose parallel with Global Warming continues. (Martin remember is a liberal. It would not surprise me that somehow he blames his universe’s humans for the cycle!) Right now his Ice Age style cycle where its just part of their universe seems to me where’s he’s going with the story. So many Starks, many Lannisters, many Tagaryons, etc. This story is one cycle! I think this explanation fits what I see in his style of story telling.

Game of Thrones is a retelling of the Norse myth of Ragnarok.

Bran is the wolf (Stark’s sigil) Fenir, son of shapeshifter Loki (Three eyed Raven), who is bound (crippled) by Tyr (Jamie Lannister) who loses his right hand. Fenir’s wild and unpredictable brother (in the weirwood network) Gamr (Night King) and Tyr (Jamie) end up killing each other.

Lannisters are the good guys, and Starks are the bad guys.

Yes, Jaime and Cersei were rubbin’ bellies and Bran had climbed up the side of the castle wall and looked in the window. Jaime jumps up and pushes Bran off the window and they assumed he died from the fall.

The pervasive online theory is that Bram is the Night King. Somehow.

Nah. The Night King laid dormant for a thousand years. In fact the new series which takes place a thousand years before GOT will likely reveal who and how the Night King came to be. This franchise is making a lot of people very rich and making many famous. I bet the next series after the 2nd one will be in the future after GOT.

Night King is a powerful magic weapon of the Children of the Forest against their enemies, the First Men. He was created using the King’s blood of a Stark, the King’s of Winter.

He is finally destroyed through the King’s blood sacrifice of the Prince who was promised - the baby of Rhaegar’s lineage, that Danerys now carries from Jon Snow.

If the Knight King and his dead zombies win; there will be no future. They will simply go back into hibernation and go dormant. Surviving humans should have future because the zombies can’t cross water without a ship. Of course all it would take is the Knight King and a few dead zombies to cross to the Iron Islands on one ship then every new dead person would rise as a Knight King zombie until all living humans were eventually eliminated.

Just thinking out loud...

Was it the Night King who resurrected Jon? Or was it the three-eyed raven?

Has the night King or the three-eyed raven been the Lord of Light all these years?

It’s a cycle! Who ultimately lives or dies each cycle is determined by the season. Summer comes the Snow Zombies, etc. die, melt, catch hay fever whatever. Their remnant retreat to that world’s north pole. (Ummm they don’t seem to have a south pole.) Humans re-expand have their spring\summer civilization, winter comes it collapse. The cycle repeats.

If you’re a Snow Zombie that’s a problem!

Also my theory allows the two contesting civilizations & environmental conditions to be mirror images of each other.
Thus continuing the liberal mantra no good, no bad just a sort of yin/yang. Martin is very much the modern day liberal. He is no JRR Tolkien!

Sorry, guys, you’re all being taken for a ride - the denouement will basically be a rip-off of “Newhart” - Tyrion wakes up from what had to have been an epic drunk, and realizes it’s all just been a bad dream hatched in his fertile imagination.

That would be a good ending!

How about he wakes up in Vermont & is a writer, bed & breakfast owner married to woman named Joanna?

And Joanna asks “Where did all that stuff come from?”, to which he replies “I drink, and I know things”.

“theories about the Night King”

He is a Stark, and there is an empty tomb waiting for him in the crypts of Winterfell.

Samwell Tarley breaks out the magic Horn of Winter that he has been lugging around since he found it at the Fist of the First Men. Blowing it resurrects all the Kings of Winter from the Crypts - possibly even including the dead Night King. After the crisis is past, they all return to their graves, including the Night King. Jon or Bran then replaces him. Blowing the horn to start the climatic battle would make Sam the equivalent of Heimdallr (who kills Loki) in the Ragnarok theory.

Alternatively, Samwell Tarley finds a cure for the cursed Night King in the books he brought from the Citadel (green Dragonglass), that restores his human form, and allows him to find rest in his rightful tomb in the crypts.

Samwell looked like he is having a hard time with Daenerys killing his father and brother (more with his brother). I figured he wants to confront the dragon queen at some point and it wouldn’t end well for him. Or will he just be a wedge between Jon and Daenerys? Hmm...

I’ll be satisfied with whatever ending as long as Cersei dies a slow and agonizing death.
