HOUSTON, Texas -- A Richmond woman is accused of assaulting a City of Houston parking enforcement volunteer who was writing her father, a double amputee, a citation for not having a disabled placard.
Jade Williams is charged with misdemeanor assault for the incident that happened outside a Five Guys restaurant on Westheimer on Tuesday, according to the Harris County Pct. 5 Constable's Office.
David Hansen, the parking enforcement volunteer, says he was writing a citation when the SUV owner and his daughters confronted him about it. They accuse each other of assault.
"Then she wanted to fight me," Hansen said. "She's walking around going, 'Come on, let's fight.' I kept retreating all the way back to my truck, and when I got to my truck, she, with an open hand, slapped my face and that's when I called 911."
"He started swinging," said Williams. "Yes, he pushed my dad and when he pushed my dad, my dad backed up, like my dad was about to fall, and I said, "Don't put your hands on him.'"
Williams' father, Byron Williams, was wearing a prosthetic leg at the time. A motorcycle accident also took his arm.
Williams denies slapping Hansen. She now faces a charge of misdemeanor assault.
"He's trying to make it seem like since I'm young, I assaulted an elderly person," Williams said. "That's not me. I'm a very respectful person."

No common sense by the volunteer, no self control by the attacker. Recipe for trouble.
So now “volunteers” write traffic tickets? Do they get a cut? Do they get a pension?
Rules are rules and the city is flat broke busted and needs cash.
What kind of person volunteers to write parking tickets?

Maybe someone who wants to bust physically fit people who are sucking up handicapped spaces? I've seen too many young people put up "their" handicapped card and go strutting into a store or their gym.
If you are in any way serious then I feel sorry for you but there should be a lot more of them out writing tickets for illegally parking in Handicap designated parking places as some of the laziest people around feel entitled to park in them leaving the truly disabled persons they were set aside for in the first place with no decent place to park. I know from personal experience and I have no sympathy for those who get ticketed for violating this law.
I’ve considered applying for one. I have low blood pressure and if I’m out in the summer heat too much, blood flowing to my skin to cool off isn’t getting to my brain in sufficient amounts to keep me conscious. If I have to park very far away from a store, I may not make it there.
To look at me, you’d never know. I don’t judge handicap card holders. What did piss me off was seeing blacks park in some spaces reserved for pregnant women. The black women were not noticeably pregnant, and their boyfriends damn sure weren’t.

There are an abundance of handicapped spots most places and whenever I go to the store most or all of them are empty.
Why do you feel sorry for me? I don’t live in a place where healthy people disrespect handicapped spots. I feel sorry for you that you do.
It was a huge, healthy guy.
She should not have “assaulted” the volunteer writing a ticket, BUT the volunteer should have had a little compassion and let them off with a warning, since her Father in the car was a double amputee.
