Rogers wasn’t fired. I think Brennan wanted him fired for going to visit Trump without asking, but Obama probably knew better than to try. Rogers stayed as head of the NSA until about 6 months into the Trump administration.

Which in DC means your days are numbered unless you have a heavy Patron.
