Wow. I grew up in an age of do-it-yourself and build-it-yourself (think Heathkit). I get a lot of satisfaction knowing I can do all sorts of tasks from caulking a window to fixing a flat on a bike. It’s all just learned skills and none of it is beyond the average person’s capability. Of course if one was never exposed to these sorts of tasks, then it would all be as alien to them as reading Egyptian hieroglyphs.
This is the generation (today’s teens and 20’s) that wasn’t taught to do these things.
But they know how to find how-to videos quickly.
When they need to do something, they just pull out their phones and do a quick YouTube search.
As alien to them as reading cursive.
