Given these assumptions:
1. Mueller and his team are smart enough to know there was never any collusion of Trump with Russia...
2. Mueller's fundamental purpose was to run a lengthy (but baseless) investigation which would provide fodder for news and commentary reporting on a continuous basis. A running source of (phony) material for Dems and Trump haters.
3. While there was never any expectation to find collusion with Russia, the powers inherent to the investigation team might lead to criminal charges in other unrelated matters, which would be politically useful for Dems, Progs, etc.
So WHY did Mueller end his investigation now? Why didn't he continue until the end of the Trump presidency? Is he simply personally tired? Want to do some other personal thing? Is he frightened somehow of something..... I see no reason for him to finish up the investigation, given the real purpose of the investigation was to generate continuous political churn.
Because Barr became AG, asked Rosenstein and Mueller what they had on “collusion”, they had nothing, and Barr said they have four weeks to shut down the witch hunt.
His actual investigation ended about a year ago there hasn’t been anything new to look at for a long time.
Barr told him to can the crap.
I would like for her to live long enough to be tried for seditious comments and sent to prison.

He came to realize that the real collusion with the Democrats and Hillary conspiring/spying against Trump was being exposed, and it was time to bail out instead of being caught in the middle, with Barr likely advising him it was in his best interest to wrap things up.
He ended it since it served its purpose for the midterms. I am sure the polls show the public was tired of the whole thing so this is early enough for the details to be forgotten but the spin can be used against Trump in 2020.
A lot of us have been wondering about this. The investigation was bogus from the start but it gave the Dems talking points as well as protection in that anything Trump did that they wanted to call obstruction, was obstruction. Maybe Trump was starting to no longer give a damn and said so.Doesn’t really make sense...
I don’t think Barr and Mueller will be friends for long after Barr sees the evidence of Mueller’s part in the attempted coup and in the Uranium One scandal.
I think Barr will protect the finances of Mueller’s wife, but that is about it.
By the look on the faces of Rosenstein and the other guy, you could just tell they did not want to be at the press conference. Barr must have told them to be there, or else.
I hope you’re right, but expect that none of the crimes of the Kenyanesian Usurpation will be prosecuted.
Barr is only concerned with straightening out the DOJ and attempting to restore its image.
Can’t write the tell all book until the investigation is done. That’s where the real cash is. Also they were pretty much done making headlines, whatever political capital it had was spent.
