Different situations. To generalize crudely: guys want to make a buck and are more likely to fall for get-rich quick schemes, and chicks are looking for community and belonging and are more likely to join a cult. They both can be bargain hunters, but guys want what the other guys don’t have, and women want to pay less.

Plenty of dopey men found in cults too. Plenty of men out there carried away by emotion, by the way. But I think the women, who settle for what emotional support they can get cult, are likely women whose menfolk regard them as stupid animals driven by only by emotions and feelings, and not as fellow human beings, intelligent, insightful, practical, and rational, made in the image of God.
