It was a Briar Cliff University (small Roman Catholic college in Sioux City, Iowa) sponsored trip for Environmental Science students. Environmentalism kills.
A bachelors in Environmental Science IMO a complete waste of time & money. From what I have seen at the bachelor’s level you don’t get enough basic science, math & statistics to even be a adequate technician. There’s only enough course work on paper from those other disciplines to capture federal grant money so a new department can be set up with a chairmanship & and other “perks”. (Not big perks! - Academia a place where the internal political battles are incredibly fierce and the rewards for doing so incredibly small!)
