PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- At least six people are injured after a driver intentionally tried to run them over in North Philadelphia on Tuesday, Philadelphia police say.
It happened around 3:50 p.m. at 16th and Lehigh Avenue.
Police say they received a 911 call about a 44-year-old man intentionally trying to hit people with his car following an altercation.
According to police, six people ranging in ages from 17 to 42 years old were hurt in the accident. A 37-year-old man was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. The conditions of the five other victims are unknown at this time.
The driver has been arrested. He's in custody at the hospital after suffering head and facial injures.
According to Chief Inspector Scott Small, the suspect was pulled out of the vehicle and assaulted by passersby at the scene of the crash.
It was a construction accident.
At least the SOB got his ass beat!
Were the passersby all arrested?

Driver age 44, victims age 17 to 42. Sounds like ageism is involved.

Many, many years ago I worked at Germantown and Lehigh.
And was paid a 12% differential for working there.
No longer live up North, thank God, so things may have changed, and honestly I don’t remember if 16th is near Germantown, but, I assume all of that area has gone transitional.
Also known as Connie Mack Stadium. When I went there as a kid just making it in and out of that neighborhood was more exciting than the game.

Nice to hear some instant payback was administered.
Even though the driver was arrested, will this turn out to be?:
A) Gang of animals try to trap innocent motorist; he tries to flee injuring several in the process; others drag him out of the car and beat the crap out of him. Or,
B) Jihadi or other nut deliberately runs into innocent pedestrians; good Samaritans drag him out of the car and beat the crap out of him.
It's Philly. I'll reserve the possibility that he was just trying to escape.
Since it appears that nothing is mentioned about him, one wonders.
