Which leads to the question, why do people even buy them? Well nobody likes to talk about it but the reason people buy them is so that they can drink and drive without bringing attention to themselves. Also, they can hide their illicit drinking from their wife (or husband) by pitching the empty bottles out the window before they get home.
I know this is true because I do a lot of walking and by the roadside, you see those empty bottles everywhere.

I have bought them before when I wanted to sample some new stuff without committing to a large quantity. Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve ever found anything new that I liked that way, but there is a more inane motive for purchasing them.

Chefs/homecooks (like me) buy them because they are the perfect size for sauces and glazes. Use the whole thing and no large volumes left over to “monitor” or finish off. [HIC!]
You buy them if you have a recipe that requires a small amount of that ingredient and you don’t want to give cabinet space to a large amount of that ingredient that’s just going to sit and collect dust or be broken by some klutz thereby sending the entire investment down the drain or all over the floor or whatever.
