I suspect that the “minor traffic accident” was anything but minor. Typically what happens in a spontaneous violent mob attack on a driver is that either a child or children were hit, or that the driver was either drunk and/or driving recklessly in a neighborhood, endangering others.
Elsewhere it is described as a “car crash”. It should also be noted that there was a male in the car with her who was not attacked, so instead of being attacked because she was mentally ill, she was attacked for being “the driver”.

As a former cop, I’ll tell you that this was NOTHING out of the ordinary in these gang-banger ghetto areas of any large city - people get the crap beat out of them all the time for a variety of reasons or no reason at all.
