Any crime of violence inflicted on someone is a hate crime.
The concept of “hate crime” is simply Orwellian NewSpeak by the progressive thought police.
The reality is that some black men nearly beat to death a man in drag. There is no “she” in this story. Had they done this to an average 40 yo white man the words hate crime would never have even been hinted at. Yet the deliberate and wanton violence would have been the same.
Face it, crime is now political in nature. The crime is not in the deed, it is in the intent of the doer. And that intent is determined by political dogma.
PS: it is cringe worthy to read this story full of “she”.
I'm surprised that real women aren't more up in arms at their gender being co-opted by men. Already we have men identifying as women being allowed to compete in women's athletics and in most cases, beating them badly. Soon all women's athletic records will be shattered by men. They can't even be homecoming queen at the prom anymore because any boy showing up in a dress will get named the homecoming queen (lest the school be accused of being intolerant). I mean, how far are they (real women) going to let this nonsense go?
Getting back to the story at hand, one thing struck me watching the video. Apparently the transvestite in question was involved in an automobile accident just before the beat-down and I'm thinking that might be the real reason he was beat up (plus the fact he was parading in the street and seeming to want to call attention to himself). I'd like to know a little more about that auto accident but of course, since there is virtually no journalism anymore, we'll probably never find out.
Of course the beating was not justified. All involved are a bunch of thugs who ought to be locked up. But nobody is talking about that auto accident and how that might have played a factor in what occurred.
