"The cassowary can slice open any predator or potential threat with a single swift kick. Powerful legs help the cassowary run up to 31 miles per hour (50 kilometers per hour) through the dense forest underbrush.
It looks like it was accidental. My understanding is that the gentleman was in the vicinity of the bird and at some point fell. When he fell, he was attacked,

DON’T eat/drink the YELLOW snow...
So true, one can’t blame the animal.
A .22 >1000 fps air rifle with destroyer pellets will do the trick.

Cassowarys are literally Hitler.
I have an RWS-54; be prepared to dig.
Also,I have a heavily wooded area adjacent to me.
Anything left there in the evening is gone by morning.
The RWS-54 is incredible!

WHAT A BLAST! hit a tincan (from a rest).
Pull the trigger and wait... can jumps...wait... then you hear the sound of the hit. A very noticeable delay.
On my own chronograph some lighter pellets over 1,000 FPS muzzle. Heavy pellets tended to be more accurate and slower. ~600 FPS.
And not much noise.

Sweet. A wile back I had access to that gun club at North Ave and County Farm. Its tucked away back there. .22 rifles, single shot only. Nice club but not our thing.

I just found an old Daisy pump in the back of my closet. Totally forgot I had it. The seals were shot so I ordered a new piston kit. Just got here yesterday. Ill swap it out next week. I dont really want to kill it. I just want it to move on.
Enjoy this snowy Sunday.

Unsure about swans, but geese will beat you up.
While riding my bicycle through a local wetland, I was attacked... more than a few black/ blue marks.
My brother worked for NATO servicing missile sites, he said, lots of wire and geese.
You wait for the local to move the geese or you will regret it.
Looks like that was the birds intention in post #14, too.
