To all those folks who haven’t ever watched “Breaking Bad” either the original series or the Netflix archive I would recommend it as required viewing for any serious student of human nature. The entire series is a brilliantly crafted exploration of the decent of ordinary people who “break bad” because of their own weaknesses and are caught in a vortex of evil that ultimate leads to their destruction. Skylar starts out as the pillar of normalcy but moment by moment she succumbs to her darker qualities of suspicion, shame, guilt, and eventually greed to follow Walt down his path of unrestrained evil. The only redeeming characters in the show are Walt’s disabled son and Hank, his DEA brother in law. This is an incredibly painful series to watch but IMO the greatest episodic TV series ever created.
+. Don’t forget the humorous qualities of the series. I about wet myself laughing at the sequence with the RV, keys and the generator.
Redeeming characters? I agree completely about Walt, Jr. But Hank? Mostly hes an over aggressive fool barely adept at his job. But maybe youre right; maybe he didnt always do the right thing, but at least he tried.
The only really bad things Walt did were poisoning the kid. That was just really out of character and shocking that he would go there . And he did kind of cheat that guy out of his car wash. Everything else, that I would remember, was sort of necessary and justifiable given the circumstances.
