If Molinari wins that is a great story too - first Italian to ever win this tournament. But I suppose the broadcasters figure most Americans won’t give a damn if an Italian wins The Master’s.
You have to read until the fourth paragraph to see the name Francesco Molinari, who is leading by two shots but merely described as “there alongside Woods and Tony Finau.” I don’t know Molinari from Adam, but it seems ridiculous to make Tiger Woods the focus of coverage, at least until he actually wins. (Again, if he did so it would be a nice story.)
I don’t know if Disney has any plans involving Tiger Woods, but it sure does look like it. I know they have plans involving Lebron James, but there’s a lot more interesting stuff going on (the first weekend of the playoffs, after all) then him. But the last few weeks too much of the coverage has been about him and the Lakers, and all season there’s been too much about his various entertainment-industry plans and so on. Whatever Disney-ESPN is about now, first and foremost it’s not sports.
