Friend of mine constantly say’s ‘’irregardless’’. I try to tell him that’s not a word. ‘’Regardless’’ stands on it’s own meaning. “Regard’’, from the French ‘’to look’’. ‘’Regardless’’, ‘’without looking’’. He never gets it.

Years ago, a coworker and I had another coworker who used “irregardless” constantly. We eventually came up with “disirregardlessly” and began working it into a sentence. I swear the other guy never noticed we were making fun of him.
