I'm talking about him continually saying "unpeeling an onion". I heard a guest on his show correct him,yet he continues to say it. Is he being ignorant it just contemptible?

Everybody knows you screw the top off an onion. Unpeeling is something you would do a grape (or raisin) and also a beer. Also when I get in the car I unpeel the door and then cork it before I stab the key out of the ignition and clean my wings.

"...Speaking Incorrectly..."
Why did you decide to capitalize those words in your sentence?

You actually decided to make a thread about this? Back in 1998 you would be have been roasted for this vanity.

Is he being ignorant it just contemptible? You appear to be speaking incorrectly.

He also habitually uses “double subjects” in his sentences, which shows me he wasn’t paying attention in English class.
An example would be, “John Solomon, he’ll be on the show tonight.”
It sounds like an insignificant thing, but it makes Sean sound not as smart as he is. And it gets “under the skin” of English majors like me. Some of us care about the language.

Hannity is someone who often says the opposite of what he means. Not on purpose, his mouth just gets ahead of his brain. It’s easy to overlook if you know what he’s trying to say, but if you are paying close attention it can be comical or annoying.

Because unpeeling an onion is much, much harder. You have to get each peel on in the right order, not ripping any of the paper- thin peels.

"This thing is like an onion. The more layers you unpeel, the more it stinks."

To: murron
You are correct. The proper terminology is to repeel an onion.

Haven't you ever taken the "circuituitous" route to somewhere? A radio show host I used to listen to in Phoenix, used to use this made-up term in place of "circuitous". Tongue-in-cheek.
I think Hannity does the same thing. He says "unpeeling" instead of "peeling" as a play on words. He knows what he's saying. And his audience knows what he means. Mutual understanding.

Sean is a great American.
If you have an issue with any phraseology affectations, I'll just say that Sean connects with a great and good portion of our fine Country, and does so without condescension or insult.
Oh, and I don't care for onions, at all. The phrase has no meaning to me, however constructed.
