No rulings from the judge today. There might be some out this afternoon, so I'll keep an eye out. Here's the current events summary:
- The judge allowed a one-week delay to the start of the trial. It will now begin on May 6.
- Three of six defendants have negotiated plea deals, leaving Keith Raniere, Clare Bronfman, and Kathy Russell in the dock.
- No indications that Raniere or Bronfman are trying to negotiate.
- The child exploitation charges have been dismissed by the EDNY and passed to the NDNY. NDNY has a LOT to answer for after turning a blind and corrupt eye to the NXIVM cult's misdeeds for almost 20 years. The new Trump-appointed US attorney there might just chew on this investigation [like a dog on a bone].
If the NDNY really investigates, there will doubtless be other indictments for a host of crimes available to them. Also, Bronfman and Raniere will have another trial upstate to deal with the child crimes.
In other news Dr. Danielle Roberts, the 'doctor' that branded the DOS women with a medical cauterizing pen, is still under investigation by NY health authorities. No news coverage on this outside of local news that I can find.
Previously, the NY health department refused to investigate as the branding was not done "in the course of medical duties".
Also of note is ABC news has a YouTube channel with updates on the trial.
Naturally, those will be two or three days behind Kit's posts. We shall see.
