Latest is that is a parisienne fireman. They have black turn-outs and dull silver helmets. I'm not so sure about that. Look at the "sash" thing he's wearing. That looks more like Muslim garb to me than what a fireman would wear.
I also read that the firemen we wearing red, which I found in these photos:
