Grim news today, as The Hollywood Reporter brings word of Paramounts diabolical plan to develop a prequel to Grease. If any of our readers have young children present, you may want to close your laptops now, as what were about to tell you is incredibly disturbing. Paramount has hired screenwriter John August of Big Fish and Charlie And The Chocolate Factory fame to write the screenplay for a Grease prequel titledbrace yourselvesSummer Loving. It is with heavy hearts that we relay this terrifying news of a prequel to the hit 1978 musical that you once watched on a loop with your 10-year-old friends during sleepovers, much to the vague discomfort of their mothers.
Readers will recall the events of the original Grease, in which naive Australian transfer student Sandy Olsson (Olivia Newton-John) fell for bad boy greaser Danny Zuko (John Travolta) despite their obvious differences. You may also recall a nerve-rattling musical number early in the film, in which Sandy and Danny each describe how they first met over the preceding summer. In a harrowing display of unreliable narration that underscored divides in both class and gender (and its archaic norms), Sandy and Danny tell very different stories about that meeting. His was a salacious retelling of their flesh melding into one; hers a pleasant and tender recollection of harmless embraces. Tell me more, their friends demand with shrieks that pale in comparison to the torturous screams Summer Loving will elicit on this nightmare called Earth.
The threat of this prequel is imminent. We will keep you posted as the story develops. Good night, and good luck.
Brian Austin Green was really good in “terminator: the Sarah Connor chronicles”. Unfortunately that was another show that suffered from the Summer Glau curse
Let me gyess, Rizzo will be made out to be a closeted homosexual....if not Sandi.
Transfer student? She lived in the US.
‘Look at me I’m Sandra Dee”
Endless Star Wars and Star Trek and now, “adult” superhero films (i.e., not only sexual, but every other sin included as well as as much PCness homosexuality as possible). Is it any wonder that MORE sameness would be extracted over and over again?
I’ve never seen the show. It looks like only two seasons.
You think it’s worth it to watch the show?
One more example of the total lack of originality and creative thinking in today’s entertainment establishment - like the remake of “Ocean’s Eleven” with only women and of “Steel Magnolias” for a primarily black cast - and yet they rake in billions of dollars each year.....
Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles is IMHO one of the best written TV series ever created. I still can’t believe it was on network TV.
What gets me about Grease is that some of its soundtrack are similar to some of the tracks from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the music, not the lyrics of course.
I don’t doubt it’s historical authenticity, but there’s definitely a subtext of moralizing that the creators have that showcase they aren’t at all sympathetic or nostalgic for the way America used to be. That’s all.
QUIT LYING.
A favorite moment was Betty letting the kids play with plastic bags that dry cleaning came in. Suffocation wasn’t a thing, then. And the way everybody smoked. I don’t see depicting those as moralizing but that’s just me.
Big Fish is one of my favorite movies. Amazing performances and a great story.

Will 65 year old Travolta star?
Cool, I’ll check it out.
Thanks for the reply.
(I have no idea why that was “removed by moderator.”)
Aah, that was back when the evils of non-forced-diversity casting were rampant. I and Fitty Cent are so glad we have moved on from those dark days! One can almost discern the slave-owner evil in the eyes of these vicious, racist capitalist oppressors.
No race mixing, no homos...evil.
NASA is now incapable of even making its own rockets, it has to be outsourced to China.
QUIT LYING.
Sorry, I was confused, I shouldn’t have said China, I meant RUSSIA.

With regards to the Sarah Connor Chronicles it’s well worth watching the first two Terminator movies before starting the series - none of the subsequent movies are relevant to it.
There are a number of tributes to the movie’s creators built in to the TV series. One character is named “Cameron”, another is named “James Ellison”. Harlan Ellison is credited with having first come up with the idea of a robotic soldier sent back in time.
