10:35 AM PT -- Well, prosecutors did exactly what we reported early Tuesday morning. Since Lori did not cop a plea, the U.S. Attorney went to a Federal Grand Jury to get an indictment, adding charges of money laundering. This now increases the amount of time Lori and her husband would get as a minimum recommended sentence.
Specifically, the U.S. Attorney says, Lori, her husband and 14 others will now be charged with the additional crime of "conspiring to launder the bribes and other payment in furtherance of the fraud by funneling them through [Rick] Singer's purported charity and his for-profit corporation."
The money laundering charge alone carries a maximum 20 years in prison.

We need to get this prosecutor working on the Clinton Foundation donors and beneficiaries.
Huge money laundering scheme there.
lol...Aunt Becky doing the laundry.
He went to a somewhat conservative Christian school.
Could not agree more. Really big bucks were being made. Singer musta done did a lot of bragging about his income.
Now, aren’t we glad we’re not rich and famous? Oh, and arrogant and egotistical and believe you’re above the law? ‘Cept if you’re ‘juicy’, then you would get a pass. Suppose Lori is wishing she were black and gay about now? Justice for some!
he was involved in the second kid go around but they ultimately didn’t do it for second kid.
So maybe that is why he isn’t going to jail.
she might be the one with the money. Her father was a partner at Morgan Stanley. She had an ancestor that sold gun powder and ammo. Peters Cartridge company.
“They were going for a minimum of two years with Loughlin and her husband. Maybe the criminals are in denial.”
I’m guessing their thinking is that their high paid lawyers will get them off on some technicality, and that doing jail time is beneath them. That’s a common mindset among many affluent people.
I doubt she’ll emerge from this as cute and sparky as before...
Solyndra was a money laundering operation run on behalf of the grifter from Kenya -- when will he be prosecuted?
I think I could do 4 months even though it would terrify me.. but 5 years will do her in...even if it is a Club Fed.
I don't believe she thinks this is serious at all...
“Unless she really has a viable defense (which hasnt been reported), she should have taken the deal.”
IANAL (though I do reasonable amounts of work with lawyers) If her atty ignored the threat (tacit though it may have been up until today) of her being (additionally) charged under money laundering laws for concealing these payments as charitable contributions, that is one hellaciously serious COA for malpractice. That is big smelly malpractice and he will lose that case if she brings it. This may have been a greasy trap the prosecutor(s) laid but it’s legit and will be one crazy heavy hammer.
“With all the smiling she’s been doing going in and out of the courthouse I don’t believe she thinks this is serious at all...”
Inclined to agree with you. I don’t think that she realizes that SHE is someone that will be made an example of.
MEANWHILE:
In something called CONGRESS this type of deal making, influence peddling, and malfeasance have been made an art form.
When is Hillary going, she did much worse.
I get the impression that they just want to sweep up the mess, send a couple of Hollywood C-listers to Club Fed for a few months, and then close the book on the whole scandal and hope everyone else involved has been sufficiently warned.
They don't want to dig too deep. If they did, there's be hundreds if not thousands of upstanding families going down over this.
