Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade is nearing his retirement from the NBA, but he just made an all-star move as a dad.
The guard voiced solidarity with his 11-year-old son Zion, who attended the Miami Beach Pride parade on Sunday.
“We support each other with Pride!” Wade wrote in an Instagram story, accompanied by a photo of the lad and his stepmom, actress Gabrielle Union.
Wade noted in another image that Zion, posing with family and friends, had his own cheering section. “Wish I was there to see you smile kid!” he wrote with a rainbow flag emoji.

If you just are who you are that is no accomplishment, so where is the cause for pride? Pride is normally a result of an accomplishment, of something you have achieved, you have earned. But if the idea is G-d “made you” the way you are, what is there to be prideful about?

I think close to half the men in Hollywood and 60-75% of the men on Broadway are gay. It seems to be much lower with the women. Most actresses seem to be straight.

My guess: The 11 y/o has been indoctrinated to voice support for these social groups, so he’s doing that. The same way schoolkids can become zealots about recycling, even daring to correct their parents behavior if allowed to.
The parents, especially the dad are afraid to say ‘Hell, no!’ or ask more questions. So they overcompensate, showing lots of immediate support with the ‘required’ level of enthusiasm. (North Korea style) .The parents don’t know if their son’s support of these events means he too is gay, but they wish to act as if it doesn’t really matter.
