Its now back as the Criterion Channel. If youre a classic movie buff, love classic movies or staples of world cinema, this is a must have.
The titles are worth the month-long free trial to the just-launched streaming service.
If the UI still sucks forget it. The old one was almost unusable and thats being generous.
Criterion titles are also on Kanopy for free (with a public library card)
Joined over the weekend and watched John Woo’s LAST HURRAH FOR CHIVALRY (1979 chop-socky). Did quite a bit of searching the collection last night on the rollout and found just a few missing titles. Totally worth the $89 for a year.
I still have my Criterion Collection DVDs, and probably an old LaserDisc or two (need to check the boxes). Sold most of my other DVDs and CDs, but couldn’t bring myself to sell these. Glad to know they’re still around and streaming their work now.
They’re doing a fabulous job! Yesterday I watched Mildred Pierce (Joan Crawford), Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps and several shorts and restoration explanations.
Today I watched a Columbia film noir, Murder By Contract with future TV doctor Vince Edwards. (Ben Casey)
Well worth the price.
