Baltimore Orioles first baseman Chris Davis entered the Major League Baseball record books on Monday night yet again after his 0-for-5 performance against the Oakland Athletics pushed his hitless streak to 49 at-bats, setting the longest such streak ever recorded in baseball history. Davis lined out to left field in the bottom of the fifth inning for the record-breaking out. In his second at-bat, Davis popped an easy foul ball that was dropped, giving him a potential gift-wrapped opportunity to avoid history. But he would then go on to hit a hard line drive to left field that was also caught.

Poor Baltimore, and goodbye Baltimores’ money!
Hes like bizarro-DiMaggio
Man. I was going to post the exact same thing!
In his defense, there has to be something medically wrong with him.
Chris Davis and the National’s Trevor Rosenthal, a reliever who couldn’t retire even one of the nine hitters he has faced so far, should face each other. Talk about the immovable object vs. the irresistible force.

Man, he needs a hug!
It’s rare that I see a professional athlete achieve a record that I am sure I could easily beat given the opportunity.
hehehe... he could hire someone to bat for him.
Jeez, step in and take a HBP at least.
Beth’s running mate ...
Davis has walked 4 times this year so BB's and I would think HBP's don't end the streak.
Some days you’re hot, some days you’re not.

When do the Os play the Rangers? Hell be guaranteed to break out of his slump. We got rid of him years ago for this same thing and he had some success in Baltimore, but hes been back to his old self a long time now.
need to see a witch doctor or something
Maryland PING!
More psychologically, I think. This thing is living rent-free in his head by now, and it’s probably affecting his mechanics. Sort of like a field goal kicker. They hit one or two bad ones, the fans and media are all over him, and he’ll start getting twitchy and shank kicks every which way but straight. All it takes is one or two good kicks (or hits) for them to shake the fuzz out of their head and get back on track.
