And that is America. Not free shit, diversity set asides, and legal extortion.

Will they have to PROVE A NEED, like concealed carry applicants in New jersey?

She will not touch a stewed tomato now, even if she were starving.

When I was a kid I missed out on having pizza for quite a few years, because mom and Aunt Ethel called it tomato pie. I visualized stewed tomatoes in a pie crust and said "no thanks".

A fool and his money . . .

But more power to him if that is what he wants to do with it.

What a bitter bunch. I glad to see they use their own money. Typically these things fail due to government involvement. I hope it thrives.

He should pay the customers to take the food.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Country star Brad Paisley broke ground on a grocery store that will offer free items to people in need.

So how do they determine people are in need? Or is this store just free for every person that comes in?

It will be located on the school’s campus and operate like a regular grocery store, except when people scan items no money is exchanged.

On campus? So is it student-accessible only, or open to the whole community? And if no one pays, what is the point of scanning items? Inventory control, sure, but if everyone gets freeshit, why are they going to bother scanning it all? That's sure not gonna last long...

“(This model) takes away the sting of embarrassment for a parent who maybe feels that way because they can’t feed their kid,” Paisley said. “The kids should not know what their parent is going through. That’s not stress a child needs.”

Um, not that many college students have kids. And when they do, they're generally not old enough to really understand the concept of a grocery store, much less paying for the stuff vs just walking out with it. Unless, of course, this place is open to the public, but then does the college really want a bunch of homeless hanging out? Freebies tend to attract not just the needy, but also the other lowlifes that don't care about others. Unless there's a heavy police presence around, you're going to start seeing a decent uptick in general crime around campus...

I can so relate to this. For my family, it was green peppers. We had a very small family farm and grew those peppers to sell at farmers markets, but green peppers were included in EVERY meal with the exception of cereal (though I often joked that we added them for garnish). It took me until very, very recently for me to be able to even tolerate them at minimal amounts.

Campus pot smoking will increase sharply when
students realize they can always get munchies.

I sometimes wish that kids these days, and some adults like the Paisleys, understood the hardships that befall a family, do not determine whether or not they succeed. Hardships do not make you fail unless you think you can’t overcome them. Why can’t we teach self-reliance anymore? My Dad needed some help, but mostly from his own family and a few close friends. He never accepted one penny of government “help”. Anyone who thinks there is actually “free stuff” doesn’t know anything. There’s always a cost to someone. Always. I hope the Paisleys are successful, but I still think they are misguided.

You’re much more optimistic than I am. LOL

I give it much less than a year.

And just wait until he’s told he doesn’t have the ‘right’ foodstuffs for the different minorities.

LOL

In some neighbors it is called stealing.

Why are there no supermarkets in Atlantic City ( except one Save-A-Lot)?

And I feel good about myself whenever I try to help someone too...even if I know the Wino won’t reform and better his life, my gesture isn’t wasted...at least not in God’s world.

It’s his money. If he wants to do this, good for him. It’s charity. It’s not welfare.

My guess is that they won’t be handing out typical US diet food. I think they will be handing out food that must be prepared.

A local government employee in my small town got on his high horse and started preaching to the local churches and mocking them because they were not feeding the “homeless” in our community. Mr. Self-Righteous didn’t care that most churches in our community contribute funds monthly to a local food/clothing organization which actually checks people out to make sure they are not scamming. This organization gives out a bag of food/groceries each morning to those that they have checked out, you see the same bunch there each morning.

But a few of the churches got embarrassed and decided they would feed the homeless and four days out of seven they open their doors and cook meals for the “homeless”. Turns out 99.9% of the “homeless” Mr. Self-Righteous was preaching about drive to these meals, in many cases in better cars than the church members and they go from church to church each day like vultures. The exception is on the first of the month, on that day you see few to any because the checks have come out.

I have talked to one churches deacons and after about a year and a half of this BS they are about to kick them out and stop being taken advantage of by the parasites of the community. Plus as one member put it, if you feed a stray dog you will have more show up and they will never stop coming.
