‘Avengers: Endgame’ Presales Blast Off: Set First Hour Records, Ticket Sites Crash
Deadline ^ | April 2, 2019 | Anthony D'Alessandro

Posted on 04/02/2019 8:28:12 AM PDT by EdnaMode

Avengers: Endgame tickets went on sale today with Atom Tickets reporting that in the first hour, the Marvel movie has set a record for the mobile ticket retailer. To date, Avengers: Endgame has sold three times more tickets on Atom in the first hour of pre-sales than Avengers: Infinity War did last year. The first hour of Avengers: Endgame presales also outstrips Atom’s first hour sales for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Fandango is also reporting strong sales for the Russo Brothers-directed sequel.

In addition, the frenzy for Avengers: Endgame tickets is so huge, it’s crashing sites. Ticket buyers are getting a 503 error code on AMC, and some users on Atom and Fandango are having difficulty too. But that’s a sign that business is strong, and it’s par for the course for any ticket retailer’s sites whenever there is a rush for a hot act. You just get boxed out. Keep trying.

Disney’s Avengers: Endgame opens on April 26.

Well, it’s not just from the movies. That was Thanos in the actual comic books.

And yes, by design, comic books tend to be “two dimensional”.

I read the Infinity Gauntlet comic series years ago. That was exactly what Thanos said in it.

Too bad they didn’t include Lady Death, but who knows?

Want to bet?

Nah...because I think you may be right. Still, that film is the other major player this year...not to say that there aren't a whole host of other good films this year.

And yes...I was part of the feeding frenzy this morning. Got a pair of tix for opening night for myself and the Lovely Wife. We're making a date night out of it.

They’re not going to fix the Marvel universe. The underlying real-world issue is that most of the actors are done. They’re ready to move on.

The only choice of the studios is to re-boot, like was done with the X-men franchise.

They will find some way to undo the ending.

The Avengers gain control over the “time Stone” and reverse all the effects from Thanos destroying half of the universe.

That was pretty much the plot in the original 6 issues of "The Infinity Wars". Victory was never about stopping Thanos from getting the stones, it was about getting them back from him. In the Doctor Strange movie, they followed the plot of the original encounter between Dr. Strange and The Dread Dormamu, yet they gave it a different twist to accomplish the same result. (Nicely done, I might add.) I suspect that this will be the case with Thanos, as you said. I also suspect that Captain Marvel will play some key role it this, which is fine, as long as they stay away from any preachy feminist crap and just have her out there kicking ass. (Maybe something a little steamy with Thor would be okay.)

Like was said upthread, I think Capt. America and Iron Man are going to bite it in this film as both actor’s contracts are up. It’ll probably be played as a ‘sacrifice themselves for the good of all’ thing. Just my prediction. I have no special knowledge.

And my 16-year-old will probably cry at the end of this movie, too. Lime he did with ‘Infinity War’.

I respectfully dusagree. Captain Marvel is not a Mary Sue.

A Mary Sue is a parody created in the early post-Star Trek fanzine world of adolescent prodigies in amateur short stories: teenagers without training or experience better at everything than formally trained adults with years of experience.

Carol Danvers is an adult with military training in both her Terran and Kree personas, and with years of experience. She was imbued with Kree DNA, giving her superhuman powers.

Her character was introduced in 1968, and she became Ms. Marvel in 1977.

I am not saying they did a good job with her character, or that it did not convey heavy-handed feminism, but both her powers and feminist angle predate the SJW activism by 50 years.

Rey of Star Wars is a Mary Sue. Wesley Crusher of Star Trek is a Marty Stu.

Some of the online fanboy community argue that he did - rendering the whole resources argument moot. I agree that the movie did not show that.

One must infer it was limited to sentient beings.
