Some Idiot Judge Set Bond For An Illegal Alien Drug Lord At $200 And The Punk Promptly Escaped
Townhall ^ | Mar.28, 2019 | Timothy Meads

A short fortune teller was recently arrested and broke free from jail, leaving the newspapers to run with the headline "Small Medium At Large," but it didn't a psychic to predict something similar would happen after a Michigan Judge gave an illegal alien drug dealer a $200.00 bond which made it possible for the criminal to run away from authorities and avoid his court appearance despite a litany of offenses.

According to The Detroit News, "Jose Antonio Lopez, 24, is wanted by police after he skipped a March 12 probable cause hearing in 36th District Court, following his March 2 arraignment in 34th District Court in Romulus. He had confessed to the crime, police said."

Lopez pled guilty to "trying to smuggle more than 6 kilos of cocaine and heroin into Detroit" But, "despite the confession, the severity of the charges and Lopez's status as a non-U.S. resident, visiting magistrate Vesta Swenson set bond at $2,000/10 percent. The defendant posted the $200 needed to get out of jail and fled."

Understandably, local authorities are furious at Swenson for giving the illegal alien such a low bond.

"I’m deeply disappointed that someone who commits a crime of this magnitude, in addition to being a foreign national, which makes him a tremendous flight risk, is allowed back on the street for $200," Detroit police Chief James Craig told media. "It's an outrage."

Apparently, low bonds are nothing new if the arraignments occur during the weekend.

"Saturday bonds have been a problem," assistant Detroit police chief David LeValley told Detroit News. "We have historically been seeing low bonds on the weekends — sometimes absurdly low for the crimes being charged."

Now, it is unclear where Lopez is. His attorneys have not heard from him either.

Regardless, Detroit Police Chief Craig warns that the legal and judicial system are not acting as a "team" which will, as it already has in this case, pose dangers to the general public.

"It's not just the police, although we get the blame if crime goes up," Craig told the media. "We have to work together as a team — but when you've got judges and magistrates letting dangerous criminals back on the street with low bond, or judges giving low sentences to violent criminals, that's not teamwork."

The judge was likely motivated by a desire to prevent the illegal from being nabbed by ICE and deported. In other words...she wanted him to skip bail and go free.

When this happens (especially under the guess of “sanctuary”), I seriously wonder if judges have been compromised by the cartels.

What is a “visiting magistrate”? A rent-a-judge? And is this one an Odungo holdover?

Yep, doing the work most Americans wouldn’t do ... smuggling kilos of heroin and cocaine into Detroit. Hell, he was honest and admitted it. And he may even contribute to local Democrats. What’s not to like about him? /sarc

The only choice, if the Detroit Police can do it, is to PROMPTLY turn the guy and the case over to federal authorities and let them lock him up.

This is JUST SICK. In China, you’d be having your (redundant and non-essential) organs harvested (such as kidneys and eyes), until they run out and then they take your heart, skin, or other critical organs and finish you off at the same time. In many, maybe most, other Asian countries, it’s simply the death penalty for a quantities of that magnitude. And no, the judges there don’t get away with that shit, unless they also want to become organ ‘donors’.

I don’t know how to fix it here, other than FEDERALIZE the judicial system when it comes to our cities, and allow the whites in Kansas to have a say as to whether this crap should be allowed in Detroit, since it obviously affects a lot more than just that city.

I find it interesting that google features ZERO photos of magistrate Vesta Swenson.

Try it out, you’ll see.

It’s like being a Judge is like being in the CIA or maybe the Mafia.

Which is instructive.

He’s probably kicking back with a cold one watching NCAA hoops at a friend’s in one of Michigan’s “Cool Cities”.

The perp probably paid the Judge off with drugs or cash. And what’s with this article not even providing the Judge’s name? Since when are they a protected species?

“some” idiot judge is right. Does the judge have some kind of immunity from being named in an opinion piece?

Ignore my question in my previous post. I did a search for “Judge” and no name came up related to it. That’s because they called he/she/it a “magistrate.” Vesta Swenson. Who names their kid after a car?

Last winter a close friend's son-in-law was involved in an auto accident on I-94 up near Port Huron. Black ice, state police off on shoulder with flashing lights and Lonnie attempting to do what you're supposed to do and that's to move a lane to the left. As he did so, he hit a patch of black ice and ultimately ran into the state police cruiser.

Lonnie went back to see if the officer was ok, he was since he was sitting in the car. No ticket was issued to Lonnie.

Two months later Lonnie gets a letter in the mail on a Saturday ordering him to report to the Port Huron police dept. for arraignment since a warrant was issued for his arrest since it turned into an injury accident . He immediately did on the following Monday morning.

To make a long story short, the State cop claimed an injury which immediately created a whole new mess for Lonnie. Anyway, the judge imposed a $15,000 bond and Lonnie had to come up with the $1,500.00

After all was said and done, Lonnie had to pay $1,600 in court costs and about $2,500 for the attorney..........
