HAVING to get up in the middle of the night to pee could mean you have high blood pressure, scientists have discovered.
The risk is raised by 40 per cent by trips to the loo. And the more times you get up, the higher the chance.
High blood pressure can lead to heart attacks and strokes if left untreated. More than one in four adults in the UK have high blood pressure, although many won't realise it.
Dr Satoshi Konno of Japans Tohoku Rosai Hospital, which quizzed 3,749 people, warned sufferers to cut salt intake.
Compared to western countries, people in Japan eat more salt and are more likely to be "salt sensitive", meaning that their blood pressure rises more when salt is consumed.
Taken together, these two factors mean that people in Japan are at greater risk of developing high blood pressure.

You can’t be too careful...
Gee, almost all women I know over the age of 50 have to get up every 2-3 hours!!! I guess we’re all doomed.
The third old man said, Every morning at seven oclock, I take a good, healthy piss. And at eight oclock every morning, I take a good, healthy crap.
The two other men looked at him as he continued.
I just wish I could wake up before nine.

Glad I ‘diligently’ checked so I didn’t repeat...
HOWEVER
The way I was going to tell it was the
80 year old guy went to his Dr and gives the pee at 3 and the dump at 4 story, religiously on a daily basis.
“For a man of your age, that is great, so What is the problem”
GD it Doc, you are the SOB that told me to stay in bed till 7.
Quite often prostate.
The older men get, the less supple it is. The prostate enlarges with age and “chokes” the urethra so the bladder doesn’t empty fully at each session. So rather than a fully blown bilge, you are just flashing off little bits leaving you with a constant full bladder.
And enlarged prostate is some times sign of slow growing prostate canncer. Easy to check out with out the old finger exam from your doc.
Thank god I get up 2 to 3 times a night to pee. Otherwise, I would be a bed wetter. I think the plumbing works just fine, as long as its drained when the urge hits.
If it’s clear, you’ve been drinking beer.
I used to get up 3x a night. Now that I am more fit and eat less carbs and no sugar, but still drink a ton of water, I might get up once. I do not think whether you pee at night means anything. Some people would rather sleep without being thirsty or having a full bladder, and some people would rather sleep through either condition.
Well, Im gonna start wetting the bed, just to be on the safe side.
Also can mean you have an enlarged prostate, which I do. My blood pressure is fine BTW.
Young children do not have high blood pressure very often. They pee in their beds often
Drinking green tea like a fiend will do it, too.
:D
I saw a study that said walking was as good as running. It was very convincing.
You tell me that an elderly person who can’t run but walks is not benefiting from walking.
“Humans are built to move”.
You said it. Walking is moving.
Hmm. Just to be safe I’m going to stop all liquids. I should be really healthy in 3 days or so.
BULLBLEEP! Getting up to pee in the middle of the night means you have a 40% increased chance of BEING A MAN past 50.
You....you...you pee holder, you.
Getting up to pee at night as you get older is a function of prostrate hypertrophy. As you get older you are much more at risk of having a heart attack. This is because you are old and does not have one damn thing to do with pissing in the night. This article is crap science.
Take your blood pressure to find out if you have high blood pressure. Don’t use how many times you pee at nite to guess if you have hypertension. What an idiotic article.
Having babies is what did it for me.
Plus I drink a LOT of water.
Lol.
Or men can attach a tube to their penis that drains into the toilet bowl.
