CNN provides and installs the airport monitors, then pays the airport to pipe only CNN into the terminals. CNN is buying rating points.
....and travelers don’t carry remotes..

Perhaps, BUT I’ve flown before and I can tell you without a shadow of doubt the HUGH majority of flyers are either on their cells or looking out the window..CNN might be showing on the screen but NO ONE IS PAYING ATTENTION to the fake news OVOMITS!!! Take that to the banks!!

Small win story: A few months back I received a survey from the VA about a recent visit and it had a section at the end for comments. I bitched about the waiting room in the pharmacy always turned to CNN or MSNBC. DAMMIT, we’re VETERANS I wrote!! We shouldn’t have to be subjected to this anti-Americanism in a VA facility. The next time I went in, it was tuned to another channel.
CNN doesn’t care about ratings, it makes half it’s income from carriage fees that everyone who has cable or satellite TV pays whether they watch or not.

How do they poll the airports?
Who does the measurement, and how do they measure audience for cable news networks? How do they calculate the audience for airport monitors?
Wow, 46.7% of viewers have their politics informed by watching kooks.
That’s not good.
On the other hand, I love it when I go into our local diner and see almost always Fox News playing on all their TV’s......
Cable News Ratings are collected and reported by the Nielsen organization.

A related criticism of the Nielsen ratings system is its lack of a system for measuring television audiences in environments outside the home, such as college dormitories, transport terminals, bars, jails and other public places where television is frequently viewed, often by large numbers of people in a common setting.
Airport monitors are not counted in the Neilsen ratings. The internet, where not everything that you read is so.
Heres what needs to be discovered.
Is cnn airport included in the overall cnn ratings? If so, how, how would it be factored in?
so w/o the AP they may actually have 5%....
