Former First Lady and family matriarch Barbara Bush was once described as 'a silver-haired pearl draped howitzer'. But a combination of blows in her life in the mid-seventies sent her spiraling into a depression that almost led to her taking her own life. Among the causes of her despair was a woman who would stay by her husband George's side for more than 12 years. Her name was Jennifer Fitzgerald (circled in main, sitting beside George and in front of Barbara in 1975) and she was his aide and according to some, his mistress, reveals Susan Page, author of The Matriarch: Barbara Bush and the Making of an American Dynasty out next Tuesday. When George was assigned to head the embattled CIA in 1975, Barbara 'fell into darkness'. 'Barbara Bush found herself falling into the worst personal crisis she had faced since daughter Robin had died more than two decades earlier,' writes Page. 'Overwhelmed by pain and loneliness, she contemplated suicide. She would pull over to the side of the road until the impulse to plow into a tree or drive into the path of an oncoming car had passed'.

Charles and Camilla are so wonderful together. A shame he was forbidden to marry her when they were young. Look at all the divorces in the queens children since then. Payback for Margaret.
Does she have plans this evening?
:)
But seriously, does anything the ruling class might or might not have done surprise anyone anymore?
Probably make Michael Jackson look like an altar boy...
they get away with it because somebody LETS them.
I’m really looking forward to being a “Dirty Old Man”... H. W. personified my aspiration.
I’m turning 60 in June. Just exactly HOW OLD do I have to be to get away with a little grab ass?
Any suggestions?
i’d much rather deal with a “frank” person then somebody that pussy foots around the subject. Just tell me what you want or what you are thinking.
Yes, it takes two to tango. Make that three. All Barbara had to do is file divorce papers and he’d have straightened up or seen his political career end. Same with Jackie. Same with Hellary. Same with all wives.
indeed. shut that crap down right away or it will become a habit. Just my humble opinion.
if u are looking forward to it, i’d say you are already a dirty old man.
Prime example: Diana, Camilla and Prince Charles. He preferred his mommy/nanny figure who supported him emotionally over his beautiful young wife who needed emotional support from him.
There are stories I’ve heard, of women who throw themselves at wealthy or powerful men.
I think it would be hard to resist some such temptations.
I was never tested, because I am.not wealthy or powerful, and have always been faithful. Then again, I was never tempted in the ways described here, so who knows what we would do in such situations.
They even let you grab them by the p****.
Like Eddie Murphy said, when you are famous and rich, women will throw their Ps at you, like they are Frisbees.
This kind of stuff doesn’t come out unless it is to head off something worse.
Powerful men think they can get by with this crap. And they do.
What good is power if you can’t abuse it? Remark attributed to a number of the rich, well born, and powerful. And it is true. These men do what most of us would like to do if we could.
Jacqueline Kennedy would have come out the big loser after the Kennedy organization finished a through character assassination operation coordinated by Joe, Sr. In any case JBK had some sort of deep seated psychological dependence on JFK. She is quoted in, I think, Sally Bedell’s book on the Kennedy relationship, as saying “I don't know what would have happened to me if it hadn't been for Jack, I would have just crumbled and fallen apart.”

Only at heart. I still fear getting slapped.
