Today’s Cryptogram

Today’s Cryptogram

KXO KFDAJIO MPKX AVPWC OETOFPOWZO QV Q CAPNO PV KXQK KXO GPWQI OEQR DGKOW ZDROV GPFVK QWN KXOW KXO IOVVDW. –QWDWLRDAV

You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications, unfortunately they are copyrighted so we can't use them here. So, we're just going to make up our own.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles. Puzzle solvers love to hear if you found the CG challenging or easy.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram.

If you're just starting out on these, be patient, as you'll be proficient in no time.

Solving the puzzle under 8 minutes is good, under 6 very good, under 4 excellent and under 2 "you're a pro!"

Those of you looking for an added challenge can try to solve one sentence or even one word at a time, i.e. solve the entire first line, then go to the second line etc.

If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hal’s Helper below:

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.

HAL'S CRYPTOGRAM HELPER

THE MORE I SEE OF DEER, THE MORE I ADMIRE THEM AS MOUNTAINEERS. –JOHN MUIR

Perhaps someone can explain to me what today’s CG means.

Seriously?

I’m impressed.

I’m rather confused on what the quote means?

I think it says people who think they know it all without some education i.e. dogmatic, tend to go off half cocked...

Or

Or it’s a lot like putting your foot in your mouth...

My first time solving this type of puzzle. Took more than eight minutes (didn’t time it). My assumptions regarding the one, two, and three letter words were correct, and built the solution from there. Didn’t use the helper. I should have read the instructions before trying to find the solution, but I can’t seem to learn that lesson.

I think I did it the hard way.

You know, like how I do, oftentimes. LOL

I finally decided to give one a go since I had a computer in front of me at work.

It took me less than 15 minutes to type it into a word processor and solve by hand.

I loved doing these as a kid. It still takes a bit of brain power and can be fun when you finally get it completely solved.

Fastest time for me to date. About a minute. Started with 1st word and rest fell into place.

This was a very quick one because the fifth word was guessable early, after the first word and the words that were partly filled in by the letters in the first word.
Such a true saying particularly on the Left.

I will admit that I use a program to do the substitutions - but we are, after all, in the 21st Century ...

As to the meaning - I would say that the former cannot always prepare you (in time) for whatever may come your way - it is a warning of sorts.

Two minutes! And boy, is that true. The first word was the obvious one, which led to the 3rd word, which led to the 2nd word, and then it was just a matter of “how fast can you fill in the letters.” LOL! I should have recognized the pattern of the attribution, though, and did waste a couple seconds before I started, thinking “Socrates? No... Arist— no... Senec— no...Madonna?? No....”
