In Mammoth, the snow is so deep residents must tunnel out. There’s a history to that

Some numbers from the local snow-caster. The amounts shown for the '16/17 and '10/11 seasons are for the total amount of snow they had on the same day during those seasons. You can see large differences for this date those years - note that Kirkwood had 795 inches '10/11 season compared to this years 545" - 150" less!

I heard that dam (largest earthen dam in the USA) up above Sacramento still is in danger of breaking.

Just more hokum form sites trying to get "clicks" Sadly I gave them one and there literally nothing to it. Until they open the spillways a little later this spring or summer and test the newly rebuilt spillway, all this is pure BS, as VTenigma states.

This commercial pilot, Juan Browne, who lives in the area and posts updates of the Oroville dam while providing overhead footage plus statistics, can be found here:

Heard Squaw Valley is considering staying open until the 4th of July.

There are a lot of places that can stay open into the summer. The problem is there are not enough skiers in the warmer months to cover the operational costs.

I was stationed at Loring AFB, Maine in 1981, when we had a snowstorm drop enough snow overnight that the snow buried the whole first floor of the dorm I was housed in. Needless to say, we could not make it to work, got drunk and dove out the 2nd floor windows in our underwear and tunneled our ways to the 1st floor entrance...doing this repeated times; fun.

You obviously dont know the science behind how global warming can ACTUALLY lead to global cooling in some instances. I’ll send you the equation later.

It's really not an equation... it's just common sense. There's only so much heat to go around. When it gets warmer in one place, it's using heat that came from somewhere else, so it gets colder there. Science is so much fun. ;-)

The photo shows Basin Mountain, Horton Creek Canyon and Mt. Tom from SR 168 just west of Bishop, CA about 30 miles south of Mammoth.

I heard that dam (largest earthen dam in the USA) up above Sacramento still is in danger of breaking.

If it does, I hope the kalifornikator congress is in session and the gubbenor is giving a speech, and they all drown.

I know that several good people will die with them...collateral damage. Punishment for living in kali's kapital. If you are there and innocent, remember, we lost 450,000 in the civil war, you will be dead for a good reason.

“Heard Squaw Valley is considering staying open until the 4th of July”

I believe July 4th is the norm for Mammoth lakes skiing given a decent year of snow. I have no doubt they could stay open longer this year but I just don’t think the crowds would be there to financially justify it. Actually I think the hikers are going to be pissed with lack of trail.

In the Minneapolis, Minnesota area they had about 40” of snow in February. It is gone now. Just some snow in the gullies and shady spots.

#12 Go to google and type: Donner Party tree stumps

The Donner party found a vacation spot but just did not know it.....

Also: Donner Memorial State Park and Pioneer Monument

Located in the beautiful Sierra Nevada, Donner Memorial State Park offers summer vacationers ample opportunities for camping, picnicking, boating, fishing, water-skiing and hiking. In winter, visitors can cross-country ski and snowshoe on the park’s trails.

Visitors are welcome year-round at the Donner Memorial State Park Visitor Center and at the Pioneer Monument, built to commemorate those who emigrated to California in the mid-1800s. The Visitor Center features exhibits that tell the stories of the Donner Party, the Land of the Washoe, Chinese construction of the railroad and more.
