[video] Around 12:15pm, Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium was responding to an injured turtle & noticed a raccoon stranded on a channel marker! Our Marine Patrol, FWC Fish and Wildlife Research Institute, Mote Marine Laboratory & Longboat Key Police Marine Patrol worked together to capture (twice!) and release the furry friend!
“Coons? Mama would just get a broom and sweep ‘em off the porch.”
Hey, at least it’s keeping them busy enough to leave the people alone. Cops need something to do at all times.
Heheh.
We mammals have to stick together.;-)
Coons are strong swimmers - this one probably didn’t need or want “rescuing”.....if one wants to lose a good coon hound, just let him try to take on a coon in the water....
I have seen a lot of raccoons and no, this one was not in need of a rescue. Damn thing was probably there robbing a bird nest on the marker.
