Former President Ronald Reagan would be “horrified” and “heartbroken” by America’s current state of affairs under President Donald Trump, the late president’s daughter said in a recent interview.
In an interview with Yahoo News that was published Tuesday, Patti Davis sharply criticized the Republican Party and Trump’s presidency, saying the President is endangering American democracy and “assaulting” the Constitution.
“What would you think (Reagan) would think about this moment?” Zainab Salbi, the host of Yahoo News’ “Through Her Eyes,” asked Davis.
“I think he would be horrified,” Davis replied. “I think he would be heartbroken because he loved this country a lot, and he believed in this country. I mean, that was in all of his speeches. And he believed in the goodness of people.”
At another point in the interview, Davis said there are “crickets (from Republicans) when Trump keeps assaulting the Constitution.” …

Takes both parents to raise the children. I can’t speak for the private lives of Ronald and Nancy, but the divorce/remarriage factor is not without harm, never mind whatever other lingering negative Hollyweird influences remained from their previous careers.

Reagan was from a different era, where one could befriend Democrats and argue with them and engage in some good natured banter with them.
Were he alive today I’m sure he’d realize that Trump is functioning in a totally different environment.
one must remember that Reagan has four children and the youngest two hated there fathers politics. of the Maureen was very apolitical and it is only Reagans son Michael who had his dads political pulse. Patti and Ron junior could not stand there fathers politics and were used by the media on a regular basis to embarrass Ronald Regan.

I agree that Nancy was the common denominator on this issue. Maybe it wasn’t so much that she spoiled her two brats, but that she ignored them. To me, she seemed over-the-top self centered, and that included protecting “Ronnie” so fiercely — so he could continue making her happy.
Once she made a statement that (paraphrasing) she had a great life because Ronnie’s position(s) provided it. It struck me as being all about HER, and what he did for HER. She didn’t mention him, his qualities, principles, presidency, etc. Not a big deal, but is something I remember well.
It is a shame that she did not get any of his genes. She sounds like an idiot.
