I truly believe that liberals become lawyers to either learn how use the law to push their agendas or to learn how to get around the law. Their ultimate goal is not to enforce laws or to help others by the use of the law. The only benefit they see is if the people who may benefit happen to fall within their agenda. For instance,we have existing gun laws that liberal lawyers are not interested in enforcing. Rather they will use gun violence victims and the law to attempt to enact their agenda of control of others.

I would also say that most people in the field of clinical psychology as mentally ill and are mostly trying to find out why they are so crazy; they care rather less about why you might be crazy.
A lot of people in the "helping professions" are just out for themselves. Ayn Rand got that part right.
