Sad to see the replies here. I have battled weight my entire adult life and it was never about being a glutton. Finally I realized it was what I was eating, not how much. I am now down to acceptable weight range but its a daily battle to maintain it. I have to constantly monitor what I eat and I can never or only rarely have things I used to love such as pasta, pizza, ice cream, pies, and pancakes. Its a battle every day. I know firsthand what others have to go through with regard to being fat. Its not as simple as calories in, calories out.
Writing as someone who was a fat little kid and now a few years from retirement, weighs what he weighed in fifth grade and has been on a diet for almost 50 years:
Its not as simple as calories in, calories out.
Perhaps not, but thats a darned good part of it. Had I not made a major course correction, I doubt if I would have seen 45.
Are you eating the same amount of calories in other foods as opposed to the pasta, pizzas, ice cream?
Agreed. I dropped 125 pounds over the last 7 years using the “Eat-less, move-more” diet. Went lower carb and eliminated as much refined food from my daily diet as possible. I occassionally splurge but have kept it off. It IS a daily struggle but it is worth it. I am Type 2 diabetic and my crappy lifestyle choices earlier in my life CONTRIBUTED to my disease but was not the sole cause of it. I STRONGLY encourage anyone battling excess weight to start fighting it now. Do not wait until it catches up with you.
MY two cents worth.
everything you list you ate was high carb, high sugar, garbage foodstuffs. all that stuff as well produces cravings for more of it, and doesnt have a high fiber filling feeling, or protein satisfying long digest time, to keep you from shoveling more and more into your face.
its not rocket science why you were overweight.
you picked crap food thar was high calorie, high sugar, high carb that didnt stick around very long so you got hungry quicker.
it really is calories in, calories stored. because your body has to deal with all the damn sugar you inhaled quickly or else you will go into a diabetic coma and die. so it changes the sugads into fat.
I eat what I want but not in endless amounts. I watch how much, and how often. you can eat what you want but if you dont control portions and calories its no good. The problem you and most women have is they like sweets and high carb/sugar crap, which doesnt long term satisfy so they ignore their portions and eat way more calories, and get fat.
Kudos to you for ditching the unhealthy carbs and sugar-I’ll bet you have more energy and look terrific, too-humans were really not designed to eat all that grain-and sugar based food, and it is addictive, like drugs-fresh animals and plants suit us better.
It IS sad. Apparently, there are thousands of FReepers, though, so the rude and crude among them, are having a ball, today. Shame on them! But then, it’s hard to shame those who have no shame.
Good luck with your weight loss efforts. The easiest and most pleasant way to lose weight, is low carb. I’m a bread and pasta lover, and I found a low carb flour that makes REAL, delicious bread. PM me if you want recipes or details.
