That's my point. They'll never even get to a trial if they successfully petition the court to dismiss it up front on the basis of the plaintiffs' lack of standing.
These colleges CANNOT settle claims like this from applicants who were rejected. Collectively, the colleges involved in this scam have probably rejected hundreds of thousands -- if not millions -- of applicants over the years. Unless the plaintiffs are willing to settle for $500 apiece, the schools simply don't have the money to pay settlements of that size.
The way to get it to trial is to refuse to settle for what they can afford. But that would mean that you are not really in it for the money.
Of course, they will settle. There are few entities in the world more risk averse than universities.
