Windows 7 allows me to play some old vintage games that will not play on Windows 8 or 10. So no.

Good luck ‘notifying’ me, Microshaft. My W7 boxes are pretty secure from malware from you or anyone else.

Say what? Does this mean windows 95 is also outdated? When did this happen? No wonder I was receiving virus warnings.
To: dayglored
I have a software that blocks update to windows and scans for win 10 intrusions. So...NO!

“Office 365” SUCKS HARD!!!!!!!
If the crappy “Word” version in it was this bad in the beginning, we’d all be using WordPerfect right now.

Once Windows 7 support ends, I’ll be upgrading to a Linux machine.

Oops, missed the "Update" from the original article.
Updated at 15:38 UTC to add:
A Microsoft spokesperson got in touch to let us know that "Consumers can expect to begin to receive notifications from Microsoft on Windows 7 EOS in April."
The key word there is "consumers". Enterprises shouldn't be troubled by the messages, as the spokesperson confirmed: "Notifications will be for non-commercial users only."
And, of course, you can turn the things off.
So expect those first phone calls from confused relatives to start from next month.

I don't play games so w8.1 serves me well. no updates, no javascript except very trusted sites. no antivirus except w defender.

There are several businesses around town hiring people to upgrade all their pc’s to Win10 - not because they love Win10 but because the support will run out on Win7.
I came home one night to see my pc automatically upgrading to Win10 unrequested. I was not alone. Thousands were hit in one night and many of us hit back. I now have a program that refuses the upgrade and turned off my upgrade notifications. I also bought an unused copy of Win7 from Microsoft before they stopped issuing them. If my pc crashes to the point I have to re-install the OS, I already have a backup copy ready to go.

If you must upgrade, get the Enterprise LTSB edition.
It will NEVER upgrade Windows 10 to a new release. Just install it and forget it.

WIndows 10 is a continuous release Windows.
Unless you move to the stable release branch.
