The 17-year-old junior, who was not identified, reportedly asked her teacher at Lake Mary High School near Orlando if she could be excused to use the restroom around 7:45 a.m. About five minutes later, the teacher said she heard a gunshot come from the auditorium.
The school was briefly placed on a lockdown which has since been lifted, and students were allowed to go home for the day after news of the incident spread, WESH reported.
Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma said during a press conference that there were no staff or students in the auditorium when the shooting took place. After hearing the gunshot, the school's nurse attempted to revive the young woman. It's not known how the student got access to the handgun.
Victims advocates have reportedly notified the girl's father, and are attempting to get in contact with her mother, who lives outside the state of Florida.
Now, investigators are trying to find out how she was able to obtain the gun and bring it into the school.
Lemma highlighted the community's mental health resources and encouraged those experiencing depressive or suicidal thoughts to get in touch.

Troubled girl....ban auditoriums
Obvious question, how did she get the gun into the school? After all the school shootings there’s still nothing in place to make sure no one brings a gun into the school.
I think I see the problem...
My bet is she intended to kill others before killing herself. But decided not to before offing herself. These troubled kids seem to be much, much more frequent these days. I blame the teacher’s unions.

Because teachers don’t teach, they indoctrinate kids into socialism, gender diplopia, homosexuality and victim-hood. The unions have promoted these types of teachers over traditional teachers so much that traditional teachers barely exists anymore. That’s why I blame the teacher’s unions.
It breaks my heart to hear that a child doesn’t see any hope. She saw no point in going forward. It’s tragic. I’m sure her parents are grieving.
Seriously, this is sad.
But, the poor headline made me think she was being subjected to another pathetic school assembly and just couldn’t take it any more.

I’m not trying to minimize the tragedy, but with the low value placed on the pre-born one has to ask: Why is this newsworthy?

That’s silly. Emotions aside, you would need TSA or Prison security at every school to prevent a small handgun from being carried in.

What? That her low life mom either abandoned her or lost custody? And for a mom to lose custody takes some very bad lifestyles.
