TAMPA (WFLA) - A photo of a giant wolf rescued by a sanctuary in Naples is going viral on social media.
"Yuki" was dropped off at a kill shelter at 8 months old, that's when the sanctuary stepped in to provide a home for the big guy and he has been with the shelter since 2008.
Yuki is one of the highest content wolfdogs at the sanctuary where he is currently staying.
His DNA testing came back as 87.5 percent Gray Wolf, 8.6 percent Siberian Husky, and 3.9 percent German Shepherd.
The photo has attracted a lot of much-needed attention, helping to raise awareness for "Yuki." He is terminally ill with blood cancer and is not up for adoption. He will live out the rest of his days at Shy Wolf.
My grandmother’s neighbor had a retired police dog. Had been untrained. Great dog and friend to all us neighborhood kids.
But they would not tolerate strangers.
Ha! Beat me to it.
Hes sweet for a high content wolfdog.
As big as a Great Dane and those are giant lapdogs!
Hope Yuki lives out the rest of his day in well deserved retirement.

Yes folks they really are that big. Thats a Canadian timberwolf cross.
The photo sucks. None of the photos on the shelter’s website were composed enough to give an accurate portrayal of the size of the animal. Grab another gear, mate.
The closer you go towards the poles, the more the average size increases: adapting to cold.
There is a Canis lupus on record that was 175 pounds.
Very sophisticated social instincts. I read once of a female wolf who stopped a street fight between dogs: pack rule is usually enforced without violence. She simply interposed her massive, powerful body between them and would not let them fight.

Sounds like you have a great mom! ;0)
Yes, she was...Thank you...:o)
A number of years ago I visited the white wolf sanctuary in Tidewater, OR (www.whitewolfsanctuary.com). Very interesting and informative.
